Australia - Was a BLAST!

I had such a wonderful time down under with all of my new Aussie Mates!  I met so many wonderful women and man (mark :) ) Ainslie Bernoth hosted me for 2 weeks in Brisbane, Australia.  And let me tell you what wonderful hosts they are.  I also had a blast with my new friend Leah Profancik!  She’s a gem!

I have been editing like mad the photos that I took when I was there.  I just got home Saturday and am doing pretty good with the jet lag.  Going over there was far worse for me.  I had gotten the flu or something a few hours before I left Minneapolis.  I was so sick when I got to Ainslie’s house.  I don’t even remember the first 3 days there!

Enough talking: Here are some photos!!

Ainslie’s little guy Blake!  What a sweetheart he is!  I found this ‘trolley’ laying over on the shore and I asked if we could use it! I’m so glad we did!

Oh my…they are all gorgeous! Love the maternity shot. Beginner question: Is the Alien Bee Beauty Dish the 22inch Pan Reflector? Do you use that with the speedlite? Did you use the diffusion sock? I have not seen that before and it is beautiful. Thanks for the pull-back shot…love to see those.

One more…why radio poppers vs pocket wizards, especially now with the new ones? LOVE your work.

Hi Debbie, we used an Alien Bee 800 with the Alien Bee Beauty Dish. You can not use a speedlite with this. We also had the Vagabond to power up the bee. We used a 40 degree grid on the beauty dish. I would love to try the diffusion sock. Next time.

Radio Poppers Vs. Pocket Wizards: It’s really all your choice. I have both. I love both for different reasons. I have the new Radio Poppers and really love them. You can shoot in FULL SUN at 2.8 and get awesome results. You can not do that with Pocket Wizards although they are coming out with a new product that looks pretty cool too.

Hope that helps!

I’ve only just found you and I’m so sad I didn’t find you earlier so that I might have come to meet you in person in Brisbane. I just love your work…and hope one day I might get to meet you…and maybe be as good as you!
