Well, at least to rock that ocf. It’s time for me to move on. I have absolutely loved teaching ocf all over the world. I’ve enjoyed meeting amazing photographers too. I’ve made many many friendships over the past two years teaching but with a daughter who is in school now it’s very hard to travel.
As most of you know my life has been an open book online to the photography public. A year and a half ago, I was devastated with the loss of our second child and have been trying to get pregnant ever since. Trying clomid and other various things we have not yet gotten pregnant. It’s taken a huge toll on me until about 4 months ago when I went to see a friend and she helped me a lot. I have renewed hope that I will get pregnant and have another child.
I have started a company called Rock the Drops. I’ve had it for a year now and it has done very well. I decided to do this because it allows me to stay home and be with my family. Although I really enjoyed traveling and teaching, I was getting burnt out and between that and shooting, I never saw my family. I used work as a coping method for the miscarriage. I became a work a holic. I’ve given up the traveling, the teaching, and my studio so I do not have to work so much. I’ve happily moved my studio back in to my home for now.

I will still teach OCF if there’s a group that wants me to come out but I was traveling so much that I just got burnt out. I needed that break. Over at Rock the Drops, there are a lot of new things coming to it. I will be able to sell the Rock That OCF online book over there too.
I am sad to say goodbye to this website/blog but as you can see I haven’t had time post since April. I had over 50 seniors this summer and I only shot ocf two times because I was that burnt out.
I honestly don’t even know how many people will actually read this but if you do you are a true fan. Thank you!

I had an absolutely amazing time in St. Louis. Laurie was an awesome hostess! All the gals at the workshop were awesome too! We ended up shooting pretty much all studio because it was snowing so bad that were forced inside. The snow was super wet and got into one of my pocket wizards and ruined it!

Then on Friday, I head off to St. Louis for a very exciting workshop with my good friend Laurie Nowling who is hosting. The last time I was in St. Louis, oh my goodness. I had such a blast and I am such good friends with a bunch of the gals. I talk to a couple of them every day on the phone! Friday, we are doing a private teaching. Laurie is opening up an brand new amazing studio in St. Charles and I will be going through the ins and outs of studio lighting with just her. :) Then Saturday we are doing an all day workshop teaching Studio Lighting and OCF. I am so excited!!
I love doing workshops! I have a blast doing them!
We are looking at SEATTLE this summer! We are throwing around dates and getting that confirmed.
Also MINNEAPOLIS! Yes, you got it my hometown!

Okay, so I FINALLY got my new vagabond and I’m pretty happy with it. It weighs so much less than the orange one that I have. That is a huge bonus! One thing I’m not totally sure is the cycling factor between shots. It’s not as fast as the Vagabond II or at least that’s what I could tell from it the other day. There were about 5 photographers shooting off of one vagabond though at full power so that has a ton to do with it. Will it last an entire session? Heck Yah! Will it last an entire day at one of my workshops. Most likely not. :( Other than that the only funky thing was that the vagabond was a bit smelly but my husband assures me it won’t smell the more I use it. All in all I think it’s awesome. I will be happy to carry that around with me instead of the 17 pound vagabond.
It was super nice by being able to hang the vagabond onto the stand!!!

Just a side note: I went out to Mandi’s place in Utah and she photographed me for a Beauty Session. Let me tell you that I had an amazing time! Yep, you got it! I’m going back to St. Louis! Hosted by Laurie Nowling, an excellant photographer and great friend!
If you don’t know who Laurie is, check her out! She’s also a writer on Prop Insanity!
Where: At Laurie Nowling’s studio in historic old town St. Charles.
How long: A one day workshop! Starting at 9 a.m. and going until there is no more sunlight. We will be going out for dinner afterward to talk, chat and have fun!
How much?: Oh my goodness ONLY 375.00. That’s right! You read that right.
Teaching: We will start off in the studio working on studio lighting, having lunch and then going out and using off camera flash!
We will be going over different styles of lighting in studio and using different light sources etc.
Models: There will be some kids and then seniors!

Really, there are no words needed to describe my vacation in Hawaii. I had a wonderful time. I photographed my brother’s wedding while I was out there and I thought I was going to come home with amazing OCF images from their wedding. Sadly….I had rented a vagabond from a company in Hawaii and when I was starting to set up my gear to use OCF the battery did not work. I brought all of my gear out there knowing I would shoot OCF and nothing. Battery was dead after charging it over night. I did take a speedlite out later but it ended up being a really overcast evening. So. This photo that I posted is my favorite photo from our vacation. I needed it badly!
